Berlin Cult Restaurant since 1936
In the neighborhood of the Kurfürstendamm in Charlottenburg you will find us, the restaurant Schildkröte.
Since the opening in 1936 by the first owner Mrs. Lotti, we have established ourselves as a cult restaurant in Berlin.
We offer our guests a culinary journey through original Berlin recipes, such as the Currywurscht, and of course we offer
many other delicacies of the good traditional German cuisine.
As an original restaurant on the Kudamm, we see ourselves as ambassadors of Berlin's Gemütlichkeit and hospitality and are proud of regular guests from all over the world. The "Schildkröte" had only a few owners in its 70-year history and established itself as a popular meeting place in West Berlin. Among the numerous permanent guests of that time was also Harald Juhnke, who regularly took refreshments in the "Schildkröte" before the show.
Otto Eduard Hasse writes in his autobiography:
"A pub opened in the Uhlandstraße - the "Schildkröte". There was Lotti, a great nanny, who took us
actors under her wing. That became the norm. We had our fun."
